Nuwara Eliya Golf Club
Nuwara Eliya

Established in 1889, the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club was constructed by a Scottish soldier for the pleasure of the growing population of British tea planters and servicemen who made the hill country their home. Spreading through the town of Nuwara Eliya, the 18 hole, 6070 yard course covers an area of 100 acres and presents a challenging course due to its many changes in elevation. Its fairways are lined with massive cypress trees which are frequently cloaked in mist making it a most picturesque course to play on and sometimes compared to the St. Andrew's course in Scotland which it is believed to be modelled on. The colonial style clubhouse with its wide verandah overlooking the green, offers a cosy wood panelled lounge and bar perfect for taking the nip out of a chilly round on the course.
